West Loop Restaurant Guide
Just steps outside our door, you'll find everything from fine dining to fried chicken to Oaxacan brewpubs. Before you head out for the evening, check out our West Loop Restaurant Guide or chat with the front desk for more tips!
"Restaurant Row" Is Right Outside
While the range of cuisines is intensely varied, you’ll find many of these restaurants have one thing in common: their contributions to the West Loop's delicious dining scene. The number of restaurants on Randolph and Fulton is impressive, and most are within an easy walking distance from our front steps. You’re in the epicenter of the city's most acclaimed, innovative, and exciting restaurants at Hotel Chicago West Loop - hope you packed your appetite!
The Best Burgers in Town
Have you ever waited three hours to eat a cheeseburger? You likely will when you head to to Au Cheval for dinner, but as our staff and anyone else who has visited will tell you: it’s worth every minute. Named the best burger in America in 2015 by Bon Appetit, Au Cheval’s popularity hit an all-time high back when the declaration was made, but it’s stayed at the same level because it is the utter truth: you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better burger anywhere else.
Under the guise of a griddled diner burger with American cheese, pickles, onions, and dijonaise, Au Cheval's rendition is more than the sum of its parts. It's pure ecstasy.
Here’s a tip if you're not a fan of long waits: catch a late lunch or a really late dinner at the bar and watch the magic happen in Au Cheval’s open kitchen. Otherwise, we recommend grabbing cocktails next door at Lone Wolf or sampling stellar IPAs and stouts across the street at the award-winning Haymarket Pub & Brewery.
The Quintessential Chicago Cocktail Experience
As Moneygun states on their website - it’s just a bar. A place to congregate, start your night...and maybe end your night too! But they're being modest, and we think it's so much more than that. Moneygun boasts a menu full of strong traditional cocktails with imaginative twists, all under $11.00. The bartenders offer original creations every month too! The crowd is hip and lively, the small plates offer something to snack on (biscuits and foie, anyone?), and the playlist is on point. Why leave?
If you're looking to transition from expertly-prepared Old Fashioneds into the groundbreaking territory of molecular cocktailing, head to Grant Achatz's The Aviary on Fulton. Just take a look at the pictures of their specialty cocktails - each drink is a true work of art. It’s an experience that promised to stimulate all of your senses!
Playful Fine Dining
Girl & the Goat
The Girl & the Goat is the flagship restaurant of Top Chef winner and Chicago icon Stephanie Izard. From the lively and refined yet playful ambiance to the phenomenal service to the deeply delicious flavors of each dish, it’s more an experience than a meal. While no meal is complete without a goat dish or two, you probably shouldn't pass up the wood oven roasted pig face; the preparation is constantly changing, but it's always sublime.
Reservations in advance strongly recommended, but you may be able to grab a spot at the bar if you arrive right when they open at 4:30 p.m. - daily. If you’re going to splurge on a meal in Chicago, this is it!
Inspired by the Mediterranean (and Killer Wines)
Chorizo-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates? Slow-roasted pork shoulder? Order a few small and large plates at avec, and make sure you brought a friend share it with. The brainchild of the tirelessly innovative Chicago restaurateur Paul Kahan, avec delivers an exceptional experience with a refined menu, expertly curated wines, and communal seating to provide an at-home feel in the buzzing West Loop.
Ridiculously Good Ramen
High Five Ramen
High Five Ramen will have you high-fiving everyone in reach. You may have to wait just a bit for a table, but it’s worth it when you get the first whiff of your signature bowl. Tucked away in a dark, energetic ramen bar beneath Green Street Smoked Meats (also amazing), High Five whisks you miles from the bustle of the West Loop where only one thing matters: that rich, creamy, 18-hour Tonkotsu broth.
At only $14.00, you get one of the best ramen bowls you’ll ever consume - some say it’s one of the best ramen joints in the country. Too spicy? Wash it down with a slushie cocktail and you’ll be back for more tomorrow.
Oysters, Pork, and Beer
Oysters, pork and beer - that’s how The Publican positions itself amongst the wealth of eateries on Fulton Market. Inspired by Belgian beer halls, Paul Kahan's flagship restaurant features a Cicerone-curated beer list, the city's best charcuterie board (which says a lot), and can't-miss pork rinds. With hearty plates, flowing Trappist ales, and communal seating, it's where you go to eat, but the laughs and drinks last well into the evening.
Delivered to Your Doorstep
Feel like exploring Chicago's world-class dining scene, but don't feel like going back out? You just got comfortable in your room - stay there! Some of the city's best restaurants deliver, and you've earned a relaxing night in.
The top two delivery apps we recommend are GrubHub and Caviar. You'll find some amazing restaurants on there, but here are a few of our favorites!
Did you think you’d be eating some of the best Costa Rican fare you’ve ever had while in Chicago? You may have seen Irazu featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and maybe you began to salivate over the Pepito Sandwich. Now you can order it from the comfort of your hotel room at Hotel Chicago West Loop.
Is there anything more soul satisfying than a ramen bowl with perfect spice level, chewy noodles, and perfectly-executed garnishes? Order from Ramen-San and make sure to include dumplings as your appetizer.
From potstickers to pork buns to duck, MingHin's expansive menu is the perfect solution for your Chinatown cravings.
This hipster Mexican joint is not your average taco stand. Habanero popcorn, chorizo chili, and garlic shrimp tacos are just a few highlights from Antique Taco's creative but affordable menu. Top your meal off with Abuelita’s Pop Tarts or a Horchata Milkshake for dessert.
When you have a craving only BBQ can satisfy, order from the nationally-acclaimed Smoque for a platter of meats and sides you won’t soon forget. All of the BBQ staples plus peach cobbler for dessert? Sign us up.
With its hip Logan Square brewpub, passion for American hops, and serious approach to gastropub fare, Revolution Brewing has been a perennial leader of Chicago's craft beer culture. You can’t go wrong with a Workingman Burger, and their seasonal pizzas are always on point. Anti-Hero is the beer that put Rev on the map, but Fist City just might be our favorite. And if you're ordering a growler, you'll probably want an order of Bacon Fat Popcorn to pair with that final pint. Trust us.
